Ganesha is known as a remover of obstacle. He is stable and steady, yet open and free. He is also known as the Lord of knowledge as he is the scriber of the Indian ancient epic Mahabharata. He is the guardian deity at the root center, Muladhara Chakra.
With this standing poses focused Hatha practice, we learn to ground through the feet and root into our foundation while keeping the freedom of the torso, just as Ganesha dances with standing on one leg though having a big pot belly, which is a symbolism of digesting everything in life.
Jai Ganesha Jai Ganesha Jai Ganesha Pahimam
Shri Ganesha Shri Ganesha Shri Ganesha Rakshamam
(Oh, the Lord of Wisdom, the remover of obstacles, Ganesha, I seek for your protection and guidance!)
